The other aspects of the story aside, I think the little-noticed fact that
Seth has spent some quality time with a J.Crew Catalogue bespeaks a
refreshingly modern mind about his own sexuality.

That's as may be. But how to react to the girl-girl double-dismissal without
being left as flat-footed as Drew Carey? Perhaps the next time some comely
UMASS or Smith College girl is giving you that sly come-hither look, you
could be ready to give her a taste: Pull to your side one of your rather
good-looking male friends, (making sure you're in full view of your intended
audience) and while gently stroking the back of his neck, lean over to
nibble his earlobe and whisper the essential sottovoce breathy words and
laugh. Smile. Nuzzle cheeks. Imagine their dismay!

Nothing wrong with a bit of one-upsmanship once in a while. (Plus what new
englander can resist a cuddle?)

Moreover, if Bowie, Townshend, Kerouac, (fill in your fave) etc hadn't been
a bit experimental well where would we be now?

To swerve dangerously back towards topic:

Long After Tonight (mentioned eons back) is indeed the bog's dollocks -- is
it the intro or is it the soaring strings over the chorus that make it...?
Thanks to Eamon for that one --- as one song leads to another, that one
makes me think of "It'll Never Be Over For Me," for the sentimental side.
