>From the upcoming MOHAIR SWEETS (#5)...

V.A.:A Fever! Comp. (Bip Bip Records) Its
international time! Fever! the Spanish Mod/60s
newsletter/website and all round party machine, has
selected 17 top Mod, Power Pop, Hammond groove, and
all around scene shaking bands for its first big time
compilation. Things get firmly in the groove from the
get go with San Franciscos fabulous Hammond combo the
Nick Rossi Set. Lots more organ grinding as well with
Barcelonas Sidonie, Belgiums Supersonic, Londons
Les Hommes (awesome Big Als Theme) and
Saarbrueckens The Flake. Top US power-poppers the
Pills turn up the volume, energy, and melody to the
max, on their knockout Wide Awake (And Fading Out).
Modesty Blaise, Art School, and Bristols Modesty
Blaise also turn in very strong pop colorations.
Quant (RIP) make the scene with their classic Play
With Mary, along with Detour labelmates The Apemen.
Other groups featured include the Elephant Band,
Matamala, The Real Crazy Apartment, The Pacifics,
Helium Angel, and Stealer; with a rather disappointing
cover (both recording and performance wise) of Frees
Song Of Yesterday. If you want a good overview of
the bands playing the clubs, rallies and dances of the
60s/Mod scenes then this is for you, definitely.
