Dating outside the scene - surely it depends how 'outside' they are, and
what sort
of relationship you have - there's no fixed answer, which is why there's few
responses (plus it's been gone over in the past). I don't find it a problem,
but then
my other half, while saying she's not a mod, loves going on rallies - she
just can't
take it seriously to the extent that 'mods' (male or female) do.

Being fairly conservative (with a small C) dress-wise, I don't find there to
be much
problem at all - though I do tend to steer clear of wearing vintage /
second-hand
stuff, for various reasons - not least that daylight rather than club-light
is a whole
different matter, and to an extent I don't want to appear completely
anachronistic. On the other hand, the same generally applies to me outside
of
work too - so I find there's little problem in, say, wearing a pair of
chalk-striped
semi-hipsters, red merino polo-neck, and a 3/4 length leather driving coat
to work, and still feeling comfortable in going 'out' in the same attire.
Equally,
a tailored suit, even in a 60s style, is going to be completely acceptable
in
the office - I'd only echo Victoria's comments - in todays casual
office-wear
culture it may be better to wear jeans and save your suit trousers from
the curse of the shiny bottom.
