Corin (no relation) asked what anyone thought of Sloan so.... Here's a bit of a CDN tirade. I have very mixed feelings about them. I'm glad that they have managed to get themselves on the radio (occasionally only out west, and in fact i don't even know what the tune is. It's got a trumpet in it tho!)and have worked hard at getting themselves about this vast country but -- I find they either take themselves too seriously or, alternately, not serious enough. Slackers in some ways (sloppy and smelly lookin'), indie kids in others(love their 70s trash and celebrate it), and are only occasionally stylin'... They can write a tune, but like you said have a Rundgren thing goin' on and what has any of his stuff meant to anyone lately? Besides the Nazz I mean? Y'know any time a CDN band goes out of their way to mention someone as bloody awful as BTO, Triumph, Rush or someone of that ilk I wanna kill 'em. It's not funny, sorry. Like the Rheosatatics... sad fucking band. CDN out their ass maaaan. More ranting later... Flashing Lights tho.. they were good... excellent tambo man.
