<< I keep seeing different descriptions on this list for clubs spinning
"Brasilia Groove" but I have no idea what that is, like a samba/jazz fusion
sort of thing? I've never heard of the genre before.

I am heavily into music from Brazil, especially from the 6o's and early 7o's,
as well as a few contemporary acts. I think the term "Groove" was coined to
refer to anything from jazzy works, to bossa nova, to "tropicalia", in a dj
setting, used to create a laid back vibe. The "Brasilia Grooves" can also
span outside of its homeland and be found in different countries by artists
influenced by the melodies and rhythms, for example Japan's Soul Bossa Trio.

I too will add a "plug", The Magic Touch, this coming thursday, be prepared
for Brazilian beats, as well as sweetheart soul, northern, latin etc., at the
Idlewild, 145 E Houston, NYC. Also, in Philadelphia, keep your eye out for,
"Bombay to Brasil", a night "Chetana The Chimp" and I throw, consisting of of
Latin, Brasilia Grooves, Sitar Beats and more.
