The modslist seems doomed to self flaggelation concerning the endless
references to 80's pop songs. (Falco was noted as a low point to some, "Men
in Hats" gets my vote for least deserving of mod consideration.) In any
case, I do agree with the comment that some of the sound and atitude of 80's
pop comes up to the level of the 60's.

My nomination of the day for this honor is The La's, particularly "Failure"
and "I Can't Sleep." The 2:54 and 2:37 running times seem further evidence
of their sixtiesness; in the day they knew that brevity could be the soul of
art.

On an unrelated note, I hope all have seen the movie "SLC Punk." Not only a
fine movie, but the mods have a nice marginal role (just as they do in
society at large) also an important discussion of the crucial differences
between mods and new wavers (maybe slc punk and the 80's / 60's music topic
is, after all, related.)

Anyway, by this time i've missed the brevity concept that i was championing
earlier....
