The new issue of GQ magazine may be worth a flip through if you find
yourself bored in the waiting area of your hair stylist this month.
There's a somewhat interesting bit of banter with Elvis Costello about his
style, a couple pages over finds a short piece on Paul Smith (where he name
drops Weller), and lo and behold, there are some interesting shoes
advertised in this issue.

In other news (and this may be worth a crosspost on Davy's FuturaMods
list), did anyone see Beck on the gawd-awful VH1 fasion awards last night?
I've been reading good reviews of his new album, but I was thoroughly
unconvinced by this performance. It wasn't so much the music, that ugly
hairdo, his unusually forced dance moves (which are generally the highlight
of his performances), or dreadful attire that put me off, but the fact that
he sings with such an un-natural falsetto that I found annoying.

It's one thing to respect singers like Curtis Mayfield, Russell Thompkins
Jr. and Prince, but to emulate them without the skills to back it up just
sounds terrible! I realize that Beck isn't necessarily looking to be taken
seriously, but he would still have been more effective (and enjoyable) if
he did it right.

For what it's worth, the audience did seem confused at least.
