A week in Liverpool one night?
Yeah, McCartney to promote some new album of old rock'n'roll covers
decided to do a gig for a couple of hundred people in The Cavern which
he hasn't played since 1963. Thing is, they knocked the old place down
and the new one that he played in has a second, bigger room which is a
plain old stage and doesn't look a bit like The Cavern. Still, he
pretended not to notice. The band, Dave Gilmour and someone out of
Johnny Kid and The Pirates, were professional enough and McCartney
sounded great but at the end of the day all the excitement is in the
idea of it all. It was just great seeing people jumping up and down and
screaming in a park watching Paul McCartney sing 'I Saw Her Standing
There' on a big screen whilst he's actually playing a few hundred yards
down the road.
