Actually a lot of NYC S.H.A.R.P skins that I knew in the late 80's used the
SHARP moniker as an excuse to go beat the piss out of anyone who WASN'T a
SHARP skin (though only in numbers did the ever succeed in the latter),
though they were a fairly harmless lot, and rather "mod friendly" which is
more than I can say for any other NYC skins in '84-'86. The SHARP skins did
save my bacon once on the PATH train when a load of Puerto Rican hodlums
were accosting everyone in the car. Sitting with a then girlfriend of
Japanese extraction I knew the "John and Yoko" bit and some aggro was just
around the corner and then the SHARP boys got on the train and the hispanic
hooligans sat down and shut up. Skinheads were dreaded thanks to the media
but funnily enough these guys couldn't fight their way out a paper bag.
American Mod....with David Elliot in the lead AND Chantal Claret as a
co-star, when's the premire, I'm there! David Elliot now oficially is the
ace face of New York, if we must resort to assinine mod terminolgy!
