Emmanuel asked about where to go for clothes:

For vintage stuff, walk south along Saint Denis starting at Mont Royal (get
off at Mont Royal metro and you're there). There's about a million
friperies along there, so you're bound to find something decent somewhere
along the way. There's also a decent one near the corner of Saint Laurent
and Rachel, but I can't remember the name (it's by the very cheap pizza
place on the corner). While you're there, take the 2 block detour and go to
the Stomp store, chances are one of us will be sitting around wanting to go
on a shopping trip (try this in the New Year - I think everyone is home for
the holidays right now).

For modern clothes go down to Saint Catherine. All the expensive stores can
be found there and they have very nice, high class stuff. Simon's is quite
good, and you can get to it from the metro without going outside. Plus
there is a Godiva Chocolate store conveniently located by the mall exit to
the store, in case you have bought pants that are too big and you need to
bulk up fast :-)
