>a company called "LML". It seems that they are importing into the US, >Vespa scooters made in India. Check out their page >(http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Boulevard/2005/india.htm). Has >_anyone_ heard _anything_ about this company at all? If they're making >good scooters, and not a bad knock off (a la Servetta), > A friend of mine owns a 1995 LML Vespa and it has been a solid runner so far. Some things about it are hokey, like the seat vinyl has completely torn off and the tires are crap, but other things about it are just fine. I couldn't believe how smooth the shifting was when she first got it, don't know how it is now. But unless you're anxious to get a "brand new Vespa", you might want to wait until Piaggio has started importing again. And on the "(a la Serveta)" comment - don't knock em til you've owned one. I wish I didn't have to keep repeating that my 1980 Jet 200 is one of the best scooters I've ever owned. After at least 15,000 miles that I've put on it since 1995 and it's only let me down (ie had to be picked up by a truck while I was out driving around) once, I have to believe it isn't just some poor knock-off. This past May I drove 80 miles 2-up w/ luggage (lots of luggage for us mods!) each way to Victoria, BC with absolutely no problems. The only scooters that had problems on that trip were a Series II LI and an Innocenti Series III LI. I'd do it and more again anyday. ...Syd ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com _____________________________________________________________ Get your favorite topic delivered daily. http://www.topica.com/t/11
