Glad to see that Paul and the others have left their fallout shelters.
Welcome back to civilization- but that was a close one, eh?

*Sorry to disappoint the person who thought Kahimi Karie was Maki Nomiya ,
but there is more than one female pop singer in Japan. On this topic
however, how many times has "I Am A Kitten" been passed around Le Grand
Magistery? Someone mentioned they loved Karie's version, but I recently
received a mix from a friend with a Momus version on it, and for years I've
been digging the Milky (who I believe is Mr Nick's family-fugitive ex-wife)
version of it which appeared on Vol. 1 of the fantastic Songs for the Jet
Set Comp. Hey, while I'm at it, does anyone know more about this series of
comps? For those who don't know, it's like a collection of soundtrack songs,
real or imaginary, from our Golden Age- some pounding instrumentals, some
synth-ladden warm bubbles, South American influences, songs from Barbarella
and Lolita and a lot of the stuff you generally hear in your head when you
see the type of airline stuff Brian recently posted.

*Surprised to hear that the Shermans are carrying on here. From what I've
seen in the northeast, at least, the ballyhooed US launch flopped. The only
Boston source was plebe clubber shop Allston Beat which repeated promised me
that they had other sizes coming in, as I didn't want to wear ridiculously
huge flags of plaid material. Eventually I got impatient, but by that time
they were selling off their stock because it "hadn't worked." Now I hear
that the local Hot Topic (an 'alternative' Kmart)in my hometown has been
selling them off for something like $10 apiece. Those who recognized their
debatable quality apparently snatched them all up to sell on eBay. I think
what happened was that they made all the shirts too big, not predicting that
their biggest demographic was going to be skinheads anyway.

*The Seen this and that- what I want to know is what is SMART! Chicago? Did
someone follow one of the Two Jeffs (can anyone else tell them apart)
entreaty for a good old fashioned mod crew? By the way, my boy, you look
miserable in those New Years Pictures. I know it's inspirational to be
definately militant but I'll bet you ended up regretting wearing a suit to
that particular party.

I had more to say but now I've forgotten and my time is up. Thank you.

DREW
