are you refering to the racial connotations of "clan"? or, am i intruding
on some in-joke? 

the point is, the original "soul clan" were a group of atlantic records
artists (including ben e king, joe tex, arthur conley, et. al) who did some
records together. the soul clan LP is good good stuff, and i think it came
out in '69 although i may be mistaken.
