I know I'm way behind with this one but I think there's a satellite delay to
Yorkshire. Anyway "Roll With Me Henry" was retitled "The Wallflower" to
allegedly disguise it's risque lyrics !! and as any self respecting Mod
should know got its first British release via Guy Stevens' Sue Records in
1965 (over a decade after it's US success). In my view Etta's Argo stuff was
her best and I'm surprised no one mentioned the superb "Pushover" -
mid-tempo R&B just on the cusp of being Soul (1963 Pye Int).
As for Paul Secular's idea for a London R&B Club - it sounds like we've got
just what you need in Manchester - The Hideaway Club. My only advice is to
try it out (next night 19th February).
