Interesting debate over the change in ease of acquiring "mod-related items". Rather than get too into it, I'll just say I have mixed feelings but fall a bit closer to Dan's view than some of the others. I'm only going to comment on music as it has become a slightly stronger interest than clothing, art etc--that's just me though. It really works both ways for me as someone who is getting semi-seriously into selling records on eBay (most of which are "mod" in one way or another). On the one hand I'm happy to provide people, whether they are mods or not, with records that might be difficult or impossible to obtain wherever they live, but on the other I'm personally constantly challenged to find "the right stuff", which as many of you know can be difficult. What recently-hyped/mainstream culture has to offer me for my (selling) purpose is virtually nothing--just a coincidence, maybe, but one I'm perfectly happy with as I enjoy the thrill of the hunt quite a bit! The increased availability of some of my favorite music on CDs/comps etc is quite welcome, though, as the originals are often impossible to get without hitting the lottery! Anyway as some of you might have guessed this leads up to a pretty shameless plug for the ever-changing variety of 60s records I have for auction. Always some beat/soul/R&B/garage/jazz etc etc stuff available, so if interested just drop me a line privately and I'll send you the info you need. Best wishes to all, Haim Kenig _____________________________________________________________ Check out the new and improved Topica site! http://www.topica.com/t/13
