Following on from Julian....

To add to that, I would also argue that music has technically globalised itself in a
sense that it isn't aimed at anyone in particular anymore. Q mag did a great piece
years ago on this, arguing that clubbers can go out and dance to d'n'b, garage, house,
etc, and then come home and chill-out to the Stones or Radiohead.

Teenagers tend to be a sub-cult of their own now, but virtue of the fact that they
LIKE music and clothes, nevermind what music or clothes. Recently Britain has produced
its own subculture elements - Playstation, baseball caps, Man United, dance music, boy
and girl groups, MacDonalds, GTI's, etc, etc......everyone is in to them yet no one
seems to be obsessed by them. Hence every girl 'loves' Westlife yet probaly only 50%
of them buy their stuff. Society looks down on passion and interest nowadays, hence
why if I bring another piece of clothing or a record or CD that I have bought in my
luch hour into my office, I am treat like a freak.

Is there any way back from this?

David
