Excellent LP! Shannon and I wasted no time in picking it up after catching
"a tribute to Charles Earland" at the Green Mill, last time we were in
Chicago. I don't know if they're touring or if it was a one-off thing, but
it consisted of Earland's most recent band, but I can't for the life of me
remember the name of the organist. Their performance of "More Than
Yesterday" was astonishing. Of course, all the jazz clubs in Chicago are
21+, so I'm really new to the live jazz scene. However, we bought the LP
right away, and it's already one of my favorites.
Although when I said I was looking for a departure from organists, I mean
I'm looking for recordings with someone other than the organist as the
front-man, and perhaps no organ at all.
