My last 'employer' worked on worked out of his house, so we were trapped in
the home for about a year. It couldn't have been any more wonderful! His
home was a Frank-Lloyd/Geary 66' home in Silverlake, CA. The home is made
entirely of concrete, brick, glass and steel. The colors scheme for the home
is red and teal. It was so intense. You enter on the top floor go down the
spiral staircase (whose handrail also serves as the drainage system for the
roof) and watch the waterfall flow through the center of the staircase. They
built one wall built into the hill and the three other walls were made
completely of glass. But the most interesting part of the home was the fact
that the entire 2nd floor was rigged on a pulley system that raised and
lowered the three walls of glass, converting the second floor (kitchen,
dinning room, lounge and atrium) into an outside patio. Brilliant!
The owner was a mod from toronto in the 80's and had great taste...(bit of a
jerk but great taste)...all high end vintage gear. Glassware, furniture,
through rugs, everything was EXTREMELY HIGH END VINTAGE...it was a pleasure
to go to work...
now my office is so drab...same old white oak hard wood floors...ikea
crap...
yeah
sure
