Oh yes... this would be Ian Levine's Motor City label taking advantage
of a rather fine semantic distinction. These are "original recordings"
in the sense that the original vocalists (Edwin Starr, Martha Reeves &
Chuck Jackson, among others, I seem to remember) were tracked down and
asked to perform over newly recorded backing tracks - no overdubs or
remixes from old master tapes, therefor "original recordings".  As
opposed to "THE original recordings"...
