I'd like to thank all the usual suspects for their helpful soul jazz
recommendations, they're very appreciated. I did want to make it clear,
however, that my search for organ-free jazz isn't the result of a dislike
for the instrument.

As it happens, I was just looking for something "new and different," as all
those Britpoppers on the list are always urging everyone to do. Of course,
it's pretty clear that "new and different" and "contemporary pop music" are
not the same, but I think we should save this argument until the next lull
in bickering.

On the subject of new and different forms of music, I've been searching out
more flute-driven stuff. I've never cared for the reedless woodwind, but
with help from Bro. Jack McDuff's "Double Barrelled Soul" album and various
latin jazz tracks, I'm beginning to come around. Anyone care to share some
other favorites?

In my opinion, such messages often become the best (or at least most
informative) threads. If I didn't know better, I'd think James's only
reason for subscribing to this list is to cause trouble--without being so
overt as to insult the insecure. Shame on you, James.
