I was asleep all of yesterday, woke up late after getting to bed late on
Sunday morning (7am, apres soiree!), went out for lunch, then went back to
bed. I have just surfaced....
But I'm telling you all this, because I'd like to thank all those who
turned up on Saturday night for my 21st birthday. Mr Lawton (now a portable
dj!), Mr Cox and Emma, and most of all to Abigail (best dancer present!) and
Joanna (and their big men) who had been oohing and ahhing all week with work
commitments and commitments to others, but finally decided to drove down and
turn up to what I can only hope was a success all round. Thanks to all.
Thanks also to Chris AKA 'Mr Pink' from Carnaby St. and his lass who drove
all the way from Stoke to be there! And to Ian from Macclesfield. Thanks to
Neil, Paul and Mike from the Hideaway, thanks lads. Was intrigued by a
conversation early in the night with Mr Warburton which went, 'You look more
nervous than I do, Mike', 'Yeah, I've taken my glasses off!'
I can only hope that everyone enjoyed themselves as I did myself
(after much rushing round and worrying up till 9:15pm!). Thanks again.
But good news, we've managed to secure the venue again for Saturday the
4th March. Hopefully, we can get a bigger turn out. I think everyone who was
there at the weekend has to agree that (apart from one incident regarding a
very drunk fiend(sic) of mine who had jumped on the 'madbus' from
Blackburn!) the crowd was a real 60's harcore collective. Mods, Garage kids,
Psycheheads and soulies were all there in variable attendance. My hope of
bringing all of the elements of 60's culture under one roof proved to work.
With the attendance that was present on Saturday, we could (all paid)
just cover expenses. I would ask for no more than that. If that is all it
takes to keep the night going, then I can only ask that the same crowd turn
up again to enjoy some more top music, films and the company of each other.
The thing I was most impressed with was everyone getting on as well as they
did. No pretence, no troubles and griping. Just a really relaxed atmosphere
in an intimate venue I know Mike Warburton wishes he had!
      Here's hoping..

        >A brilliant night was had by all as far as I can gather.

Hope so!

        >It was quite amusing to see Mr Bolton running about
        >beforehand, collar buttons undone and all, complaining about "some
c**t >forgetting the cueing device..."

I didn't actually calm down till 12!

        >and the fact he hadn't even had chance to have
        >a shave!!

There's no excuse for that!

        > Some top tunes were played (and I mean top) by Matt and
Chris

Nice that people danced to my new purchases! I WAS wondering! Does top mean
Chuck Jackson, Dorian?! Somebody must have a copy out there for you! Nancy
had a copy not too long back!

        >not least worthy of a mention was Tinx's amazing black wig which
gave >me quite a shock at first - I though the blonde Barbarella locks had
gone >forever!

Fabulous that was. I nearly died when I saw it! It really suits her, though
I think my suggestion that she actually do it for real fell upon deaf ears!
She shocked everyone it seems. Not for the first time that week either!
You'd better stop it girl! Our young, little hearts can't keep up with all
these little surprises!

        >Anyway, top marks for organising your own birthday so well Matt.

Muchas Gracias!

My heartfelt gratitude to all in attendance. I had loads of presents
to open and even more to come!! I received enough sweets to sink the
proverbial sea vessel! And rot the teeth of the whole armada!
Expect another flyer to be doing the rounds rather soon!
                         Matt....
