Okay, I don't use my real name. i enjoy anonimity. if you really want it,
e-mail me off list -- if enough people want me to use it, I will..as far as
subcultural alliances go, I'm at a point in my life where I don't feel
comfortable with a label. I fell that I failed as a skinead by allowing
myself to get bullied out of Boston by the Nazi's and other right-wing
elements. i was alone, and I didn't stand up. I have been interested in mod
since my teens, due to some friends who liked the Jam, Small Faces, and the
Kinks. Not a real substantial lot of records (when you considerer the
breadth of music..) but enough to change me. I am on this list to see what
mod is really about. I like mod clothes, music, etc....Does that make me a
mod? No. Am I a mod? Maybe. That's why I'm here. To see what this is about.
When you are a skinhead, you have a place to belong...as the Dropkick
Murphy's sing "NEVER ALONE!!" I was alone, and I let it get the best of me.
Now there is no going back. The mod scene in Boston is there - I'm not a
part of it. I don't know any boston mods, with the exception of ModNess (who
I got to Uni. with) and Drew17, who I've only met twice. I'm here because it
seems that my tastes and some of your tastes are similar. Whoever "xx" is,
I'm over it. Think what you want. I don't have a subcultural belonging. I've
spent time in a variety of subcultures. I'm sorry if that annoys anyone, or
sounds too sappy. My new name? Well, no one can argue it ain's true. But if
you want me to have a new name, give some suggestions. Send 'em over. But
you don't win anything. And finally -- if this gets me off the list so be
it. I don't want to drive people off, so if you want me gone, say the word.

Sincerely,
modskin
