I've got a Sprint Veloce ('72) and a Primavera('76), previous to that I had
a Sprint('68) which I've got all the gubbins for.
Well done on having an excellent large frame Vespa - Sprints really go like
the proverbial rocket, when you get them tuned!
Have you tried the proper proceedure to get it registered?
All my scoots were Italian imports(bar the '68 Sprint), and had NO
documents, so I had to register them myself.
Phone David Champion at Piaggio in the UK for an authentication letter.
He's a good bloke and will sort you out.
Call him up on 01689 881700 (or his direct no. 01689 881721) and he will
give you the details about what to do (you will need to pay about 20 for a
letter - but it will give you the date that the scoot was made).
You can then get the scoot MOT'ed and with the Piaggio letter, you should be
go to the nearest DVLC and they will register it for you, and give you an
age-related number plate (insist that they dont give you a poxy Q-plate).
Speak to your local scoot garage and they should tell you which office to
use.
It doesn't take a lot of effort - but you wont get anywhere trying to pass
the scooter off as another(when you have it MOT'ed the frame no.'s on the
logbook and on the MOT wont match up.)
I tried it, trying to use the details of another scoot I had that was
written off, and the DVLC wouldn't go near it.
Also if you get pulled by the police, it will look like your on a knicked
bike!
