Alternatively, you could go to

and read a whole bunch of descriptions - I think anything on the German
site above should be taken with a substantial pinch of salt.
Alternatively, I wrote an answer to this exact question in the modslist
FAQ if anyone still here can point you in the direction of it (I'm at
work at the moment, so no chance of typing it all in again).
As far as tracks / bands go try this simple test:
1. Does it sound like Motown?
2. Was it a hit?
If youy get a yes followed by a no it may just be Northern Soul.
Seriously, there are thousands upon thousands of tracks - many of them,
almost by definition, by artists who cut only one or two records so any
attempt at a brief list is pointless really.
