You are a modernist.  In my opinion a fine thing.  Don't think it 
necessarily  has much to do with mod, though. Please refer to the insightful 
comments of Julian Lawton in this matter.

I remember your previous internationalist and economic comments and still am 
not convinced.  You say mod is about being smart and having a good job and 
being able to travel and your source is the early mod's excess pocket money 
due to the end of WWII rationing?  What about the mod tendency to drop out 
of school at 15 to get a nowhere job to have enough money to buy clothes and 
pills?

I'm not trying to argue with you, I just think that you are engaging in the 
standard tautology of "I am a Mod, therefore what I like is Mod."
or "Mods like what is good,  I like what is good, ergo, I am a Mod.  Hear me 
roar."

And you might at least wear a suit,
