hey there! my name's Rob and I'm new to this list. I was reading what Little Stevie said and I totally agree with him about the fact the more you shout off about being a mod the less you are actually mod. One of the things that interested me in Mod was its open-mindedness and its inherent desire to be different/individual/"away from the numbers", I mean I love loads of music thats supposedly considered mod (small faces/jam/ weller/northern soul) yet at the same time I really like loads and loads of different stuff (mad electronica [aphex twin, squarepusher], dub, punk, jingle jangle indie shit) anyways, a bit about me, I'm 21 and I live a little village in the middle of nowhere in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. I've been into all things Mod for quite some time now, I can't really remember what really attracted me, but I think it was just the well smart style (which kinda reminds me of that Pete Meaden quote which I can't quite remember!) I'm thinkin' about getting a scooter even though I know absolutely zilch about how they work, I have though started reading thru loads of books and manuals, I can't decide between the lambretta or the vespa, though I'm kinda inclined to the lambretta (it looks miles slicker, plus I've heard about those vespas and the way their weight is distributed), i've heard about that shop down Weston way, me and a mate are gonna check it out pretty soon, we kinda have this mad plan to ride em down to spain this summer (whether that'll happen or not...) a coupla questions... 1) anyone live near me?? 2) any advise about the scooter, I don't really have that much money or technical know-how? anyways take it easy, rob ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com _____________________________________________________________ Who will win the Oscars?
