A quality tailor can remove pleats on trousers, it is however not
inexpensive(relative to other alteration costs). My tailor has given me
options when I have had this done, reshape and move the front pockets, or go
by way of the front zipper. Depending on the fit of the trousers and your
pockets one or the other method should work for you.
