Anja, be sure to make a note of "Tighten Up" at Club Foot in Chicago, on the third Thursday of every month. I finally attended my first one last week, and I was amazed. In spite of the inclement weather, the night was very well-attended, I was shocked to later learn that the night's turn-out was actually lower than usual. The crowd was fantastic, too--more mods than I knew existed in Chicago, and plenty of non-scenesters were getting into things too. Resident DJs Ben and Aret spun excellent sets, and even gave Shannon and I some time behind the tables. This was only my second time DJing, and I've never been responsible for getting so many people on the floor before. Naturally, I'd love to take credit, but I must admit that it goes to the excellent crowd. I was honored to meet several more Chicago modslisters, you'd be pressed to find a more dedicated group. I'm only sorry I didn't get to move more on the floor myself, but I was involved in a pretty ugly car accident only a few days prior to the event, and wasn't in top form. Modslister Jason Downs certainly deserves some mention, I didn't see the man leave the dance floor once the entire night--look out, Paul Secular! Even though the weather kept me from doing more shopping, I did catch a tribute to the late organ legend, Charles Earland. Fantastic stuff--God, I love being 21. I can't wait to get back to Chicago--and Tighten Up--again. -Eamon _____________________________________________________________ Check out the new and improved Topica site! http://www.topica.com/t/13
