Oh everyone knows that's an English Empire thing, swanning about being
"better" than Johnny Foriegner, the good Count Secular is merely donning his
cap and smoking-jacket of his own cultural imperialism.
We'd be very niave to think that ALL Americans are into MacDonald's/Nike
etc...
Britain is now so immersed in other cultures that this old island now
resembles one giant theme pub.
>no-one forced you to love American film and American records. Or forced
>you>to be interested in U.S. stuff that means little to an English >person
>(Las>Vegas, Back Door Men, Scorsese, etc.)
Have to disagree there though - the media in Britain LOVE American culture,
often at the expense of indigenious arts/enterainment etc...
>
>Personally I love the cultural exchange - when English have imitated
>Americans and vice versae.
And as someone whose got a parent from the birthplace of America's future
president (Will Smith!) - I love the way that UK people absorb all the
stereotypical Americanisms, yet laff at Americans who pretend to be English
Ya.
>>How different is your average urban white
>>kid in America to your urban white kid in England.
No guns in our schools.
That makes a BIG difference, believe me.
Oh and we dont have the Death Penalty either(never saw the wisdom in gassing
people for being poor and illiterate)
Damm! Im doing it now...
