PRESS RELEASE……….PRESS RELEASE………… PRESS RELEASE……….PRESS RELEASE. MOD'S MAYDAY 2000 Dig-out the target T-shirt & kick-start the scooter, 'cos MODS MAYDAY is back in town. Following on from the huge success of last year's sell-out concert, fans of quality mod music can celebrate another action-packed concert at THE FORUM on Sunday, April 30.MODS MAYDAY 2000 features a scintillating line-up of influential cult bands from the early-to-mid '80s, many of whom are making a rare live appearances for this show only! With THE PRISONERS, IAN PAGE of SECRET AFFAIR, THE MOMENT and SMALL WORLD, topping an allday bill that kicks-off at 1pm, supporting acts also include The Itch, The Upper Fifth, Not The Jam and many special guest appearances. Headlining act THE PRISONERS have reformed for the first time in five years, with Hammond Organ legend James Taylor taking time-out from his busy JTQ schedule for the gig. The Prisoners influence has proved far longer-lasting than their '80s success (would we have had The Charlatans and Kula Shaker without The Prisoners?) and recently they were included in MOJO magazine's top 100 cult bands chart. Mouthpiece for his mod generation, IAN PAGE of SECRET AFFAIR has returned to the stage and rediscovered his trumpet in time for this year's show. A top 20 star in the early-80s with hits like 'Time For Action' and 'My World', Ian Page has been drawn back to the live stage following the popularity of the recent Arista Records 'Best of Secret Affair' collection. A huge hit at last year's show, SMALL WORLD return to the MODS MAYDAY stage to deliver a set of blistering guitar-fuelled mod-rock. A huge draw on the live-circuit of the early '80s, they remain ever-popular today. Following on from the success of last-year's Tangerine records 'Mod Gods' retrospective, THE MOMENT have reformed especially for this show, playing their first concert exactly ten-years to the week since their last! The concert will also feature special guest DJs and appearances from many of today's music business movers and shakers who were a part of -or influenced by - the bands of the 80s mod revival, Tickets are available from The Forum and from Ticketmaster.
