Hi Christophe,

Well, as for the first thing on your list- record shops- sorry, not many
good ones around Washington. But here are some of *my* favorite places:

Millennium: cool 50s and 60s stuff (furniture, cookware, *limited*
clothing)

Good Eye: Even better than Millennium, they specialize in 50s and 60s
but also have some art deco- vintage pieces (mostly furniture again, but
they also have prints/fabrics, vintage posters/wallpapers, women's
purses, etc..)

Adams Morgan: yummy Ethiopian and Indian restaurants as well as some
(occasionally) interesting nightlife

French cafe: In Georgetown there is a place (on 30th I think, near the
Waterfront) called Cafe La Ruche. The entrees are not as good but their
DESSERTS cannot be missed ;-) Try the chocolate cheesecake.

Hirschorn Museum: Modern pieces only! Entrance free at Smithsonians.

Eighteenth Street Lounge and Dragonfly: The latter is an expensive sushi
restaurant/bar but it's completely white and aseptic-looking (a happy
haven for those with OCD). You may find too many of the wrong kind of
"suits" (businessmen) there on a weekday though.
Do try to go to 18th Street Lounge but good luck finding it! If you're
around where 18th street meets Connecticut, then you're in the right
place... but it'll probably take you another 1/2 hour to find the little
gold plaque. Hint: Look for the Mattress store...

Clothes: Georgetown :-)

Hope that helps a little,
alicia
