i've tried so hard to ignore the current thread hoping that it would
dissipate. but alas it's like the fucking energizer bunny - it just
keeps going and going and going...

U.S. vs U.K. - who really cares? am i going to change someone's opinion?
probably not. we're all here on this list because we're into the same
thing. supposedly.

the british ripped off the music that america created and turned it into
something new and fresh. but no one can deny it's origin. please. if it
weren't for american rock and roll, the british would have been
strutting around still playing skiffle for christ's sake.

mods took levis, r&b and motown from america - and style and scooters
from italy. the only thing inherently british about mods is the fact
they happen to have originated in britain.

i'm not on this list because i'm some anglophile as mr. secular would
likely believe. i love british music because it happens to be good not
because it's british. and i'm a mod because the style and music suits my
taste. that's who i am and i don't really think it matters where you
live.

now, i don't really like america particularly. i think our foreign
policy sucks, the school system is in shambles, red necks and criminals
walk around with guns shooting people, the food is nothing to shout
about, korn and limp biskit, woodstock - ugh. enough said.

i don't consider myself much of an "american" because i live in new york
city which is the center of the universe anyway. it's culturally more
diverse than any place on earth, put jazz on the map, created punk in
turn giving malcom maclaren the idea for the sex pistols, created the
velvet underground, warhol, blondie, where john lennon chose to call
home (unfortunate for his untimely death), etc.; new york's influence is
too far reaching to continue.

you can fit all of london into one of our five boroughs. the rest of
america is a cultural wasteland in comparison to new york.

so i say - it's new york against the world. we're bigger and better than
you are...

i'm sure i'll get lots of angry responses to this. i just had to shake
things up a bit...
