This debate over the direction of "Modernism" is going nowhere..how many
times has this argument been stated. Look, perhaps between the bickering of
the old school and the new school lies a third way...taking from both the
old AND the new..I don't see it as being a mortal sin to own both a Sterolab
album and a chess Northern comp. There are elements of culture that do not
lose their appeal over time...

Motown is a 40 year old musical genre, but it continues to inspire music
today. 3 button suits have been around forever, but the cut continues to
look good today. Vespas have been around since the 50s..and now their
becoming chic again..some things have staying power because they have
quality. Modernism has always aimed for the best in ones personal tastes,
and if something from the past strikes you as appealing, then so be it. If
something from the present strikes you as appealing, so be it. All power to
somebody who can graciously combine the old and the new and not lose their
style but define it personally.
