Oh you take me too seriously.. I am just asking a question.,. sheesh..

>John, John, John....sheesh, methinks you analyze way too much. If you "take
>away the pills, the clothes, the art, the attitude, and the music.." well,
>what's left? An ordinary person (except you removed his attitude and clothes
>so he's probably a little embarrassed...) just like everyone else. I doubt
>that anyone was born a mod in mindset (whatever that would mean...)
>and its evident by this list that many people attracted to the mod thing
don't all think the same.

Well we can debate that too if you would like.. I mean if you want we
could go into exploring common experiences in our lives that have
brought us to this.. But that is more of a graduate level statistics
project... ;) And when I made the statement about "being like minded,
I never intended that to be taken as all thinking the exact same..
Just like minded.. Same interests.. thats it..

>What it boils down to is this....if you like the music, and clothes
>and scooters
>and trappings of mod then call yourself one and start to delve deeper.
>(Or don't call yourself one and let other people call you whatever they wish.)
>But if you're NOT attracted to 60s music, styles, scooters etc....why oh why
>are you so obsessed with attaching yourself to this mod thing? Are you
>just fascinated with the actual word itself?

I guess I am just trying to separate the bullshit from the substance
within the mod movement. To be honest with you I am thinking about
writing a piece on it and I am just trying to get a gist of why
people go mod.. if they do go mod.. is there anything really
different from these people and the rest of society. I am asking
some pretty easy questions here..

As for attaching myself to the mod word is pretty funny.. I don't
need to attach anything to myself.. I have always found that I just
do my own thing and sometimes I find that movements and counter
cultures share some of the same beliefs that I have developed.. and
that's it. I didn't just wake up one day and say.. "Hot damn.. I
wanna be mod..".. cause I had nothing better to do.. To be honest
with you the real reason why I got so interested in mods was because
I was doing some research on my own interests and Mods kept popping
up. And popping up.. and popping up.. So I started to learn about
mod more and more.. As I said I am curious.. So what a better place
to learn about mods then to go to their clubs, listen to their music,
and try to understand why they kept popping up in my search. Excuse
me if I just come from a different angle .. excuse me if I was into
jungle.. ;).. Industrial to techno, techno to jungle, jungle to
dancehall, dancehall to rocksteady, rocksteady to ska, ska to jazz,
jazz to hammond tunes, hammond tunes to funk, funk to pop, pop to
britpop, and bam as I said.. its just all a big circle of influence..
I enjoy searching and finding out the reasons for things and why they
exist..

>When you were a Jungle guy, did you obsess about what a Jungle person is
>all about when you take away his/her music? Just what would separate
>one Jungler from the next? Or a naked Jungler? See my point? It sounds
>a bit silly.

Actually in the beginning when everyone is against you it does take
something special to go against the grain. So yes.. there was a
particular person that usually was into jungle.. Many considered it
undanceable.. and many couldn't understand the roots.. or the reasons
for the sounds.. we did.. some people did.. special people did. A
junglist was one to defy the 4/4 beat.. a person that was willing to
give up the fame of being a house dj in order to push music that he
found to be uniting. The most important part was it was our way of
trying to unite people in America.. Jungle had something forever one
and we just wanted to unite the races through music.

Then later it became popular and now a days.. its just about money..
and many of the old skool have left to persue better things..

Read what I wrote to julez..
