Hello all,

Just a quick note of introduction before I sit back and take in what this
list is all about. My name is Benjamin Xavier Kim, I'm 24, live in
Philadelphia, enjoy some aspects of modernism but don't necessarily
restrict myself to say the music that is associated with mods (though I do
enjoy the Jam, the Kinks, early Who, early Stones...I could go on but I
won't). I'm a big soul/r&b fan though and definitely trying to keep up
with today's r&b scene (though there's a lot I pick through to find the
tunes I like, much like any other genre). I'm also slowly getting into
old reggae. Aside from that I enjoy listening to indiepop music, Factory
stuff (New Order, ESG, OMitD), electronic stuff (from PSB to Autechre),
good ol' rock n' roll stuff like T. Rex and the Ramones, some Britpop
(much less than I used to), et cetera. Oh yes, and Abba.

I do not have a "chicken-head" hairstyle, if you are curious. (At least,
not blatantly so.) Otherwise known as the "Rod-mullet."

I just came back from a week-long trip to London and spent way too much at
Merc. Oh well, when am I going to be back there again? While there I was
very pleased to finally discover not only jaffa cakes and Lilt but also
the genius of Alan Partridge (The Day Today/Knowing Me Knowing You/I'm
Alan Partridge) and lamented the fact that in the US the only British
comedy we get a whole ton of is Are You Being Served? or something like
that. Maybe some Red Dwarf, which is OK. Re: Canadian comedy, I saw the
Kids In The Hall twice on their current tour (in NYC and Philly) and it
was damn good.

For brevity's sake I leave you with this somewhat superficial/incomplete
and scattered list of my interests. Hopefully there'll be more
interesting heady goodness to come later.

Take care,

Xavier
