FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Glitter Bullitts Music, IUMA and SF Weekly present "HEAVEN TONIGHT 2: A TRIBUTE TO CHEAP TRICK," the second annual Bay Area one-night festival celebrating the music of legendary power pop band CHEAP TRICK. Carlos drumsticks and a drumhead autographed by every member of CHEAP TRICK. There will be some surprises at this show, as one band has promised an appearance on vocals by the brother of comedian Mike Myers (?!), who apparently plays Cheap Trick covers in a band in Toronto. Also, word about this show has traveled as far as Rockford, Illinois, home of Cheap Trick A member of American Heartbreak (who once played Trick covers at a party with an inebriated Bun E. Carlos) received an email from Rick Neilsen's son Miles inquiring about the show. Miles mentioned that that Cheap Trick will be in LA mixing their upcoming CD around April 15th, fueling rumors that Rick himself might pop in for the tribute Rumors aside, this festival has been staged to expose people to the music of an influential power pop band who has been joined onstage by members of SMASHING PUMPKINS, PEARL JAM and AEROSMITH; recorded with John Lennon; and worked with producers George Martin and Todd Rundgren. CHEAP TRICK has released four platinum albums, three gold LPs, 8 Top 40 hits and a gold-certified video compilation ("Every Trick in the Book"). SCHEDULED TO APPEAR: PETROL (Glitter Bullitts Music) BRACKET (Fat Wreck Chords) RED PLANET GLITTER MINI 9 HELL BROTHERS BLACKOUTS THREE YEARS DOWN HELIUM ANGEL AMERICAN HEARTBREAK (Coldfront/Sin City Records) JOLLY and more TBA DJ Laureano (High School) and DJs Kirk and Keith (330 Ritch) will be spinning 70s FM rock until 3 AM. SHOW HISTORY: 1999's Heaven Tonight festival was the brainchild of Michael and Graham Shaw of San Francisco band PETROL, and was created to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the release of CHEAP TRICK's triple platinum "At Budokan" LP, arguably the most influential late 70's album for many bands today. This year's sequel came at the request of Bay Area fans. Graham Shaw states, "We didnt expect the response we got last year, and we were surprised it sold-out Club Cocodrie. After fans kept asking when wed it again, we figured, what the hell, if they want it, lets do it again, bigger and better." 330 Ritch Street is located just off Townsend Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets; (415) 541-9574; Doors open at 8pm; Show at 8:30pm; Admission: $8 For more info, contact Graham Shaw at 415.923.9436 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
