Can only suggest getting into DIY or getting lucky with boot sales (or
garage sales to you). Otherwise you're stuck with Ikea - who, whatever
people have to say against them, have at least improved the design of cheap
furniture (if not made good design cheaper). That's the problem really -
limited market causes the prices to be much higher - the ball chair is a
great example, because the materials are pretty cheap, it's just that
they're made to order rather than mass-manufactured. And you can't put them
in a flat-pack.
