Cafe Bleu is still going strong and shows no signs of letting up. I went
back two weeks ago for the first time in forever. There were fresh faces
jamming to the same 'ol tunes...
There is also BANG! on Saturdays at the Ruby, and the Beauty Bar on Tuesdays
is good for a laugh and a manacure. I also [depending on how long you are
out here for] recommend the outdoor jazz at MOCA in downtown Los Angeles.
Last year the Mingus Big Band made a surprise appearance and so did the
Charlie Hunter Trio. Feel free to email me offlist for a list of other gigs
that many people on this list will snarl at the mention of...
