and have a good time, and listen to great music.

To add some repeated input, at least from my Dad's perspective, they didn't
call themselves mods either - 'faces' then 'heads'

and....

Does anybody know if there is a scene in Poland?

---------------------------------
It's quite true, they didn't seem to be aware of the 'mod' label to begin
with - if you read the 1962 Town article, featuring Mark Bolan, ho-ho, they
don't mention the word 'mod' once, but when you read what they say about
their lives, it is! (loads of sharp clothes, staying up past their bedtimes,
scooter rides etc.) But what is most interesting is, they don't explicitly
mention any music, except that they don't like r'n'r because greasy rockers
and teds like it. They talk about dancing (a good way to show off, i spose),
but they don't mention wht music they're dancing to. (were they keeing it a
secret so the proles wouldn't get into it?) but then, i think those
particular ones were more clothes-focused - no doubt there were others more
music-orientated! But then i think also a lot of people who call themselves
mods nowadays can be split into categories (though it's not nice to do it!)
- those more into the clothes than the music and vice versa. and of course
people who like both.
from the letters i get from people all over the world (because of my zine),
who call themselves mods, they all have their own interpretation of it, and
i think that makes it very interesting, very varied! I mean, i know some
people don't think i'm particularly 'mod' because i like garage and
Loungecore, but i don't lose any sleep over it!
And as to mods in Poland, i don't know of any, (there are mods in Vietnam,
incidentally), there's a few in Yugoslavia, and i remember reading an 80's
zine which had an artcile on mods in Denmark - the writer was complaining
because there were only about 5 of them!
oh, and they have mod clubs in Greece as well!
