Hey Helen!  The currently available UK book "London Live" has some 
decent maps as well as a pretty good list of now defunct (for the most 
part) club addresses.  Also if you have the time, John Platt's "Rock 
Routes" is another EXCELLENT source of the same (a bit more detailed).  

Trainspotters note: the 'Mingo was in the basement (which now seems to 
be boarded over) of the building which now houses the WAG.  I believe 
the first floor of the WAG was the Whisky-a-Go-Go back in the day - and 
it actually doesn't look like they have changed it THAT much over time 
judging from the visit that some of the boys and I paid to BLOW-UP after 
our Purple Pussycat performance a couple of weeks ago.  All this and no 
blue plaque to be seen for yards!
