Interesting...
I would agree with you both, actually. I like mod stuff (and other areas of 
cool 50's/60's cool and sophistication and grooviness) because i like it, 
and can't imagine being into anything else.
And the reason i got into it? because i looked around and couldn't see 
anything else worth being into! i took one look at a pic of some '63 mod 
girls with big handbags, big hair and suede jackets and nice shoes, and some 
tasty blokes in tasty suits and i thought 'here we go!' (and i was raised on 
60's music anyway, with a Motown obsessive mother and i had a Monkees album 
for my 3rd birthday... which just about sums up the Monkees, you could say! 
not that i was being lazy and copying my mum, but once you've heard James 
Brown, or Aretha or anyone else like that, well, you can't really accept 
anything else!)
