| Wild Weekend 2 is not in London by far - it's a couple of hours driving
from
| there to picturesque East Sussex. And yes, we're planning to go - it's
going
| to be fun. I'll buy a bottle of Scotch to the first person who dares to
surf
| the frigid waves of North Sea and approaches me with a printout of this
| message.
|
| And surfing the North Sea at the Camebr Sands Wild Weekend would indeed be
| most impressive - as they'd had to surf up the English Channel, which is
the
| busiest waterway in the world, then up the Essex coast, dodging all the
| ferries going from Harwich and Felixstowe! and if you really wanted, turn
| left at Southend and do a victory roll all the way up the Thames!
| Surfing in Clacton... now there's an idea for a scooter rally contest -
| Strapping your prized Vespa to a surfboard. Still, you could do it with a
| Primavera, i suppose.
I'll re-phrase my challenge, then: I'll buy a bottle of Scotch to the first
person who dares to surf the (slightly less) frigid waves of the Channel and
approaches me with a printout of this message. Anyone bold enough to
accomplish my first request gets a bottle of Scotch AND a copy of "South
East & Central England: A-Z Road Map" (courtesy of the Helen Barrell
Foundation for the Public Awareness of British Geography ;-) )
BTW, Helen, motorized surfboards have been done before - I can send you a
picture of a 60's Barris-made one complete with bikini-clad lass which would
look great in Dansette. What do you think?
