Go figure. When Levi's introduced the line in the mid 60s they came in the
shape of both denim 5-pocket jeans and regular slacks (inclusing some of the
ugliest madras ever), so I guess the sta-prest thing has to do with the
manufacture - not with the actual fabrics.

The idea is that if you get them out of the dryer as soon as it finishes and
hang them (clue ;-) ), you don't need to press them - but I have yet to see
this happening! I must add that I have only had the Levi's reissues and a
couple of Merc's, so I don't know if the originals performed better. A funny
thing: the Merc's crease stands washing WAY better than the others, also
they are better constructed that their regular suit trousers (they still
require tailoring, though - except if you are of Olympic proportions).
