Hi there,
I'm new to this list. Decided to try it yesterday when I saw the link on
the Apemen's web page.
Maybe I'm out of context as I don't really bother to use mod-like clothes
or what have you but what I do enjoy is good music. That was the main
reason to join this list... to find about "new" mod bands out there.
My first impression I must say was of sheer misplacement... that thread
about Wrangler jeans really made me wonder what it was all about... then it
became more clear... sort of!
As for music it seems the interest lies mostly (if not only) on 60's mod
which is great... hey I'm sure I love Georgie Fame, the (early) Who, etc as
much as you guys... but there's today ain't it?
There was a reference to an absence of a present New York mod-scene. That I
cannot confirm or deny but there's surely some great 60's influenced NY
bands out there... think the Rooks for one... GREAT ain't they?
But there's also mod not necessarily 60's, right? I'm sure some of you dig
Televison Personalities.
I don't know much about present US mod bands but I heard a few songs by the
Retros and they strike me as fitting the category... though others prefer
to consider them mostly Byrds-influenced (I hope that mentioning the Byrds
doesn't mean I'm forever banned from the list)
So, how about letting me know about present mod bands out there... in a
60's kinda way (The Clique, Apemen, Cherylinas...) or not.
Sorry if I bothered you.
ron
