PAUL WELLER is set to kick off his first US tour in three years, nme.com can
reveal.
The seven-stop jaunt will call at: Boston Avalon Ballroom (October 6) New York
Roseland Ballroom (7) Toronto Massey Hall (10) Chicago Vic Theatre (11)
Pontiac Clutch Cargo (12) Los Angeles Wiltern Theatre (15) San Francisco
Fillmore (17)
Weller's current album 'Heliocentric' is only available in the States on import.
His last effort released in the US was 1998's 'Modern Classics: The Greatest
Hits'.
Meanwhile, Weller has recorded a version of John Lennon's 'Instant Karma' for
inclusion in a Channel 4 programme, 'Shine On', in honour of what would have
been the Beatle's 60th birthday.
Performances on the show, hosted by Jo Whiley and Jools Holland, also include
Noel Gallagher doing 'Tomorrow Never Knows', and 'I'm Only Sleeping' with the
Stereophonics, and Beth Orton's version of 'Julia'. The programme will screen as
part of Channel 4's John Lennon Night on September 30, from 9PM.
In other Paul Weller news, according to his website www.paul-weller.co m, the
Modfather is considering putting out an album of unplugged material through the
site in response to fan queries.
