Well, I'm from Cleveland originally, and haven't really done the Detroit 
thing in 3-4 years (it used to be only 2 hours from home....now it's 11...) 
Last I was up that way, we messed around in Detroit for the afternoon before 
realizing once again that the action lays across the Ambassadors bridge in 
Windsor. Of course the usual Canadian border town procurements of duty-free 
booze and mad gambling (well, it's just gambling when you start: it's mad 
gambling the next morning when you look in the old wallet!). I wish I could 
be of more assistance, but all I remember of my youthful weekend visits are 
distant bursts of semiautomatic weapons, car loads of 19 year old kids 
hitting the border, and a certain friends <1983 chevy citation> getting 
stolen from Hamtramck. Scene wise, there was never any pronounced "mod" or 
"60's" scene there, although there were a few Mod cats 30 mins west of 
downtown in Ann Arbor who were in the Jedi Knights Scooter Club, and at the 
time (now defunct likely, but I'd be happy to be corrected) Ambassadors 
Scooter Club (a Detroit/Windsor "international" Scooter club). If you have no 
contacts whatsoever, my post was probably a waste of time. But I suggest you 
concentrate your research efforts to the aforementioned regional scooter 
clubs for leads. On a similar subject, I'll be in Cleveland for 5 days around 
Christmas visiting family, so if there are any Detroit/Windsor/Cleveland/Etc. 
people in town around Christmas, please let me know so the highlight of my 
trip isn't "childhood memories" (yikes).
