This is what's happening on my radio show, and i hope it answers that "who's
listening to what ??"
The Specials - Stereo-Typical (new release of the "A's, B's and Rarities)
Really good if you're a fan - Lots of dub versions and even dance remixes on
the last two discs. You can get it for 16 pounds as far as I know. . . .not
available in the US yet.
Angelic Upstarts - Anthems Against Scum (new live versions of older songs. .
. .) You can pick this one up at www.insurgence.net, and come check 'em out
on their North American Tour if you don't mind the skinheads. . . .
Adjusters - Before The Revolution (not "new" anymore, but it is their
latest) I know that I'm obsessed with this record, but it's all for good
reason. If you don't have this record -- BUY IT NOW!! Supposedly there's a
new record, but I haven't seen it yet -- "After The Revolution" as far as I
know. . .
New Amsterdams - Never You Mind - Acoustic numbers featuring memberes of
"emo" powerhouse The Get Up Kids. If you dig that sort of thing, this is an
excellent record - laid back, top-notch songwriting...
Nina Gordon - Tonight And The Rest Of My Life - Solo project from former
Veruca Salt front. Not as rock-and-roll as previous effort, but a nice jaunt
into AAA pop - Takes a while getting used to, but a solid effort
nonetheless. . .Nina is a sexy woman, and I'm biased....
The Explosion (Boston) - Flash, Flash, Flash (see that adjusters
description) This record is pure rock-and roll. Check out "Conniption Fit"
or "Leave It In The Dirt"
and also, these are my top 10 singles this week.........
1 - Kortatu - Nicaragua Sandinista -- left-wing ska from France
2 - Radiation Kings - Skinhead Train -- tradska for the baldies
3 - The Clash - Jimmy Jazz -- a classic, my fave band
4 - 10 Foot Pole - ...Officer I Swear She's 19 -- it happens.....haha
5 - Stiff Little Fingers - Each Dollar, A Bullet -- The Troubles, et al.
6 - Slapshot - Teach Me To Kill -- Old Tyme Hardcore from Boston
7 - Oi Polloi - Bash The Fash -- AFA anthem, quality streetpunk
8 - Mission Of Burma - That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate -- love it.
9 - The Jam - "A" Bomb on Wardour Street -- not played often enough. .
10 - Inadaptats - Red Skinheads -- another quality leftie band
