You've got that backwards, Mod invented the Who! They were fabricated
to become a band for the Mods. Top Mod, Pete Meaden, took the group
under his wing and bought the group clothes and pills and showed them

That's not true. First off it was the band's third single as the Who.
"I'm The Face" b/w "Zoot Suit" by the High Numbers is one which Pete
Meaden wrote (ripping off from other sources of course) to be the first
"official" Mod record...and remember the High Numbers are the Who! Oh
yeah, there were many Mod records before that one. Hell Georgie Fame,
Graham Bond, and Zoot Money had records out long before then, and those
were the guys that the Mods were flocking to see as wel as American R&B,
Soul, and Jazz cats who came to town way before the Who.
