Yes...very true...and to dump some conversely punk drivel on the "suburban
park ranger" who posted the original post....The "mod" band from 1980 "Long
Tall Shorty" were in fact discovered by Jimmy Pursey. He was the one who came
up with the name, which is in fact a Kinks song. Perhaps it is a "small
world" as he mentioned. But in reality, the ridiculous write -up he posted
here was meant for a different list indeed. I really don't need to weed
through my already bulging inbox with tales of drunk skinheads fighting each
other over...well...anything. It's rubbish and it belongs on another list. On
another note, I just picked up the new "Moovies" LP at my local record store.
It's REALLY good if anyone cares. The style varies from ultra fuzzed out
tracks ala-Artwoods/Mourning Reign to some hard-driving folk-rock 12 string
guitar anthems ala Byrds/66 S. Cali psych. Neat little package from these
upstate NY mod/garage fiends. It certainly holds it's own alongside the
Embrooks and the Snydes. Brilliant Psych/Mod/66-69 gems. If you're not too
elitist to enjoy such a thing, they're distributed by Sundazed Records out of
NY. Check it out here:
