I'm not a fan of the Angelic Upstarts but round our way the mod
fraternity (I mean full on R&B loving mods) have a lot more interest in
punk/new wave than some of the easy listening stuff which people seem to
think has something to do with mod. Most of us went to see bands such
as Eddie and the Hot Rods, SLF, Buzzcocks, Jam etc so I wouldn't condemn
SPC for mentioning new wave/punk bands on this list.
As for talking about fighting - if it's a part of life why not talk
about it - it's not as if he was promoting it is it? Personally I found
it quite interesting reading that this sort of gig violence still goes
on in America - I don't think you get a lot of it in Britain now do you.
